Translator Application Guidelines

Hi everyone!

Our team has decided to open up applications for a new "translator" position on the MCBans staff. This position would not be the same as the dispute or support team, and would offer fewer permissions, but could lead to future promotions.

Translators would essentially need to be available to help out in dispute or support situations in which a user is struggling with English, or in chat-related ban situations in which proof is better understood in its native language. We have a large number of servers and players from non-English-speaking countries, and while our site will still require bans to be in English and largely conduct business in English, it would be useful to us to have some translators available to help bridge the gap.

Our priority at this moment is to find bilingual speakers of both Japanese and English, given the large number of Japanese servers. German speakers are also somewhat in demand. We are not seeking other languages as urgently, but feel free to apply anyway if you are bilingual in anything. Strong English skills will be required, regardless of whichever other languages you speak.

Basically, we want someone available whom we can ask "what does this mean?" in a dispute situation, or who could translate a message for us.

Requirements:

-Must be at least 16 years of age, ideally over 18.
-Must have strong English skills
-Must be active on Discord, and be available for a voice interview and for voice chats.
-Must not have any global bans on record (if you have one that was issued falsely and hasn't yet been resolved, go ahead and apply, but please explain it).

Application format:

1. What is your Minecraft username?
2. What is your Discord username?
3. How old are you?
4. What is your native language?
5. What other languages do you speak, and how proficient are you in each?
6. In which timezone are you located?
7. At what times would you generally be available on Discord?
8. Why would you like to be a translator for MCBans?
9. Is there anything else you would like us to know about you?

The next questions are optional, as they are not crucial to the translator position, but you may answer them if you would like to.

10. How long have you been playing minecraft?
11. How long have you been a part of the MCbans community?
12. How much experience do you have with server administration?
13. How much experience do you have with using the MCBans plugin in-game?
14. How much experience do you have with the MCBans rules, guidelines, and disputes?

Please submit your application in the form of a thread in the "translator application" section of the forums (found here: http://forums.mcbans.com/forums/translator-applications.32/), and include your username in the title. Also, please note that this position would be unpaid. MCBans staff operate on a volunteer basis.

Thanks, and good luck!
-Kris
